Frequently asked
The questions that arrive ahead of the others.
For questions not addressed below, write to hi@findby.io. The address is read by a person rather than routed to a queue.
Discovery
- Where does the lead data come from?
- Google Places, filtered to the region the operator selects. Each candidate is scored on its existing web presence, recency of reviews, opening hours, and the deliverability of the listed contact. No scraped profiles, no purchased lists.
- How does Findby decide which leads to surface?
- Candidates are ranked using a weighted set of signals. The default favours businesses whose web presence is absent, broken, or visibly outdated. Weights are adjustable for sales motions that call for different emphasis.
- Which jurisdictions are supported today?
- Discovery and outreach are gated to the US, Canada, and the UK. Each region’s rules — CAN-SPAM, CASL, PECR-aligned consent — are enforced at the send gate. Addresses outside the supported set are held until the jurisdiction opens.
- Can the leads be exported?
- Yes. CSV export from any lead view. Lead data belongs to the operator and survives cancellation.
Demo sites
- Who pays for the demonstration sites?
- Demo generation is included in the subscription. If the prospect signs, the hosting and the customer relationship belong to the operator. Findby does not host production sites and does not take a cut.
- Can the demonstration templates be customised?
- Three templates ship by default — bakery and restaurant, services (auto, dental, salon), and retail. For each prospect we populate copy, photographs, and the awning colour from the discovery context. Heavier customisation is available on Agency.
- Where do the demonstration sites live?
- At a subdomain of newshop.studio, for example
bellas-bakery.newshop.studio— a URL the prospect can click without it presenting as a preview link. The site remains live for 90 days after the lead enters “Site built”, and the window resets on each subsequent engagement.
Outreach & deliverability
- Does outreach send from the operator’s own email address?
- Yes. The operator connects a sending domain (Postmark and Amazon SES are wired today); Findby verifies SPF, DKIM, and DMARC before the first send. New domains enter a measured ramp so reputation accumulates gradually.
- How long does domain warm-up take?
- 21 days. The ramp begins at roughly twenty sends per day and climbs to the configured target. Already-warm domains skip the ramp. The curve is visible on the dashboard.
- How does the A/B subject-line test work?
- Two subject variants split evenly across the first fifty sends in a cohort. The winner is selected by open rate, weighted by complaint rate, and applied to the rest automatically.
- What happens to bounces and complaints?
- Both flow into a single suppression list automatically. Senders that drift past the complaint threshold pause themselves and surface a remediation checklist before resuming.
Account & pricing
- Is there a free trial?
- One lead taken through the full pipeline at no cost: discovery, demonstration site, drafted outreach. Enough to evaluate whether the workspace fits before paying for the second lead. No credit card to begin.
- How are seats billed?
- Fixed seat allocations: one for Starter, three for Growth, ten for Agency. Counts beyond those are not available today; contact us for additional capacity.
- Can the subscription be cancelled at any time?
- Yes. Cancellation from the billing page stops the subscription at the end of the current cycle. Consumer purchases retain a 14-day refund window via the Stripe Billing Portal; B2B purchases with a valid VAT identifier skip the window.
- Does Findby integrate with a CRM?
- CSV export covers the common cases today. Native HubSpot, Pipedrive, and Attio integrations will ship when their data round-trips cleanly — half-working integrations cost more time than they save.
Boundaries
- What does the AI actually do?
- Three things, all in the preparation phase. Findby uses AI to rank Google Places candidates using a configurable set of signals, populate each demonstration template with the prospect’s photographs and details, and draft the first version of the outreach email from the same context. The operator reviews, sends, and conducts the conversation that settles in the 500$-to-3000$ range. Deliverability is infrastructure, not AI.
- What does Findby deliberately not do?
- Findby does not replace a CRM. It does not buy or sell data lists. It does not scale to enterprise sales motions. AI generates first drafts; the operator who knows the industry edits and approves. Judgment and relationship remain with the operator.
- How does Findby handle privacy?
- Only what the product requires: public business records, the operator’s sender identity, and the leads the operator has acted on. Not sold, not shared for marketing. Delete-on-request processed within applicable windows.
